Half Marathon Handicaps

Teams Half Marathon Handicaps

Race Map

Both the Teams Half-Mara and Individual Half-Mara events will start at 9.30am. These two events are conducted concurrently over the same course. A nominated time event will be held at 9am at the Football Ground.

Competitors running in the teams’ marathon will each be provided with a unique colour-coded bib and these can be collected prior to the race start. Runners in the individual marathon must wear their Club numbers.

The meeting place for this race is Turners Beach Football Ground (Henry St). Please park cars at the Football Ground.

The race commences on the Esplanade opposite the Turners Beach Playground and Hall, on the Pathway. The drink station will be here for individual runners as will the change for team runners.

The course is out-and-back in both directions with the run East done first. The course is mostly flat – there is one short hill in the first half at Leith. The first turn in Lillico is just prior to Lillico Road (at the end of the straight section of path). The second turn in Ulverstone is just past the toilets on Beach Road near the overflow caravan park (~50m before Buttons Ave).  Runners need to supply their own drinks in clearly marked bottles with their Bib number. These can be placed at the start/finish line.

Post-race presentations will take place in the Turners Beach Club clubrooms. There will be soup and hot drinks available for runners, volunteers and supporters. There are toilet and shower facilities available.

NB: at the end of the Esplanade run down the grassy lane and not around through the bush as was done in the 3x2x3.km Teams race. Follow the arrows. We are not using the Coastal Pathway along Susan St.

Run on the sea side (North side) of the Esplanade in Turners Beach when going both directions.

The individuals drink station will be at the start/finish line. The changeover for team runners is also here.

When starting the second-leg (or just after hallway for individuals) and running West on the Esplanade in Turners Beach you must take the new coastal pathway. When approaching the turn-around sign on Beach Road, Ulverstone, you may run on the sea side of the road, rather than the windy concrete path (take care).

Race Map

The race starts at 9:30am. Please note that there is no nominated time event this week.

The meeting place is at the cenotaph in West Park.

Run east towards the gate and then up the path inside the park adjacent to West Park Grove. Exit the park and continue on the right -hand side of the road to Fortuna Avenue. Turn right and continue to the roundabout at Brickport Road.

Here you will be crossed over to the footpath on the right-hand side. Continue until you reach Three Mile Line Road and turn right.

Continue until you reach West Moorville Road and turn left. Stay on this road until you reach its junction with Ridgley Highway, then go straight ahead before finally turning right to finish in the car park at the Ridgley Football Club.

There will be a drink station at the 9km mark, you need to place your own drink bottles in the collection crates at the start. Please make sure they have your name and number on them.

If you have a supporter providing you with drinks/nourishment, they must do this at the drink stations. We don’t want runners or supporters crossing over the road during the race at random spots.

Please be very careful on this course because you will be running across intersections and driveways which won’t have marshals.
