President’s welcome to the 2023 season

The PCCCT Committee welcomes all members, new, old and returning, and their families to the 2023 season.

The 2023 season sees some significant changes to the club’s programme.  With the increasing number of fun runs, parkruns and other events, runners in NW Tasmania are spoilt for choice.  To increase the attractiveness of our club, the Committee has elected to break the season in five blocks of 3 or 4 weeks of racing with a week’s break in between to avoid long weekends and give members time recuperate during the season.

The 2023 season will incorporate 17 races, with a mix of handicap, mass start and teams’ races. With the reduction in races, some long standing courses will not be used this season.  However, most have not been abandoned by the club and will return in 2024, alternating with courses used in 2023.

The club’s iconic races, the Mountain Classic, Ironman and Feature Race will again be standouts in 2023.  The Feature Race will be the last event thanks to our fantastic returning sponsor – Simons Carpets.  Also, 2023 will see the 50th edition of the PCCCT Marathon.  We encourage as many runners as possible to take part this year and help the club celebrate the occasion.

Following the great success of the teams’ events run in the last two seasons, a fourth team race has been added in 2023.  Three runner teams will compete around the 3.5 km Turners Beach loop, with each runner completing one lap alternating with their teammates, before completing a second lap.  The 4×5 km, 2×10.55 km and 4×10.55 km teams races from 2022 will also be held.

The Club gratefully acknowledges our wonderful sponsors. Please support them in return and mention the Club when you do.

The PCCCT is, as always, indebted to our volunteers.  Without their efforts running our club would not be possible.  Anyone wishing to assist the club is always welcome.

I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable season.
