Race Map

This is a mass start event. All runners will start at 6pm. Handicaps will be applied post race to determine the winner of the handicap event. The winner and placegetters will be announced on the night, with the full results and handicaps being posted to the website later that night. The nominated time event will be held at 5:30pm.

This is a simple out and back course along the pathway following the Mersey River. The meeting point is at the Bluff in Devonport. The course has lights along the full course, and it will be twilight when we start (Sunset 5:47, Dusk 6:15). It will be dark at the conclusion of the race. Head torches are not mandatory, though feel free to wear one if you would like. Please make sure you keep left at all times, and respect other users of the path. There can be some dark patches from 1km to 2km, so make sure you’re paying attention to where you are going.

The race will start at the first light pole on the path near the playground at the Bluff. You will then head East out along the foreshore path, keeping left at all times (including at the split in the track approx 500m in). At approx 2km in, there are two pedestrian crossings at the boat ramp. You have right of way with traffic, but be vigilant and stop if necessary. At the fork after the second pedestrian crossing you will veer left and continue following the path along the river. After you go under the elevated walkway, you will continue straight along the river past the Harbourmaster Cafe. Continue to the end of the path where you will turn right across the train line. Immediately go left and continue following the path along Formby Road until you get to another fork at Petbarn. You will veer left, and you will find the turn around point shortly after. Head around the cone, and head back exactly the way you came, ensuring that you keep left to avoid any collisions with other runners.

Presentations will be held shortly after the final runner crosses the line.

Race Map

Written course description:

The main race starts at 9:30 am at 225 Johnsons Road, Yolla. Nominated time race starts at 9am. Kingsley Coffee will be on site to satisfy all you hot drink needs.

The race is a loop course covering approximately 8.5 km in a generally clockwise direction. The course covers a combination of farm road, gravel road, paddock, and mountain bike track.

The start/transition/finish chute starts near the sheds behind the house on the property.  Runners then turn left from the year and then another left onto the 600 out and 600 back section of the course. Follow the course marking down the farm road until eventually it runs up into a paddock. Follow the pink ribbon course marking through a couple of grass paddocks and then around the perimeter of a recently cropped area sticking to the grass around the outside. From there the course runs approximately 400 m up a rough gravel road before re-entering back into farmland. From here it’s a short paddock run before entering the mountain bike track area. Follow the pink ribbon around the mountain bike track. While on the track DO NOT jump over to any other nearby tracks or duck under/over or around the black & yellow barrier tape; there are multiple tracks in this area and deviating from the pink ribbon course will cause runners to go off course very quickly.

After running the mountain bike track loop you’ll emerge back into farmland close to where you entered the bike track. Turning left, follow the pink ribbon, you’ll find a very fast section of the run across and down grass paddocks until entering another farm road. The run continues fast along the farm track until you hit the finishing hill of doom! Then through the stock yards and to the start / finish/ transition!

The whole course is marked with pink ribbon and orange arrows will be placed at key locations to guide runners around.

For those wishing to gpx files of the course route can be downloaded here and preloaded onto your running watch.  To download click the Downward link (highlighted below) and select “Download GPX”.

Pre-Race Safety Briefing:

Runners are responsible for their own safety. Please consider the course and weather conditions and prepare yourself accordingly by wearing appropriate footwear and clothing.

Runners must follow the pink ribbon marked course at all times.  Black and yellow tape designates no go areas.

Portaloo facilities will be provided in the shed area for participants and volunteers.

Runners are reminded that they are running on a private property. Areas outside of the marked course and transition area are out of bounds. The shared route file does not permit runners to access to the course outside of the designated race period without permission from the landowner.

No littering will be permitted; all runners are expected to carry any rubbish with them to the finish area.
