The race starts at 9:30am at the Wynyard Yacht Club and follows the Coastal Pathway to the Burnie foreshore.  Runners start on the grassed area (Wynyard Parkrun start) immediately to the east of the yacht club.  The course then follows the coastal pathway past Rotary Park, taking the path to the coastal side of the park and continuing to follow the pathway.  At Somerset (approx. 10 km into the run) runners will leave the coastal pathway briefly due to road works on the path.  Once rejoining the pathways at the marked location, runners continue on the pathway which follows the Esplanade.  The drink station is next to the carpark opposite Falmouth St at ~10.5 km (drink bottle can be dropped off at the start line).  The coastal path continues on taking the coastal side of the Somerset surf club, to the Cam River Bridge.  The course crosses the bridge and continues on the pathway through Cooee, around the coastal side of West Park and the University of Tasmania campus, past the Penguin Centre and finishes on the Burnie foreshore.

  1. Runners must run on the left side of all paths and roads.
  1. Runners must not accept water and/or food outside of the designated drink station. If additional nutrition is required, runners must carry it with them. Please no littering on the course.

There will be a drink station at the ~10km mark, you need to place your own drink bottles in the collection crates at the start. Please make sure they have your name and number on them.

There will be toilets available at the start line. Please note there is no nominated time race.

Good luck to all runners!

This is a mass start event. All runners will start at 6pm. Handicaps will be applied post race to determine the winner of the handicap event. The winner and placegetters will be announced on the night, with the full results and handicaps being posted to the website later that night. The nominated time event will be held at 5:30pm.

This is a simple out and back course along the pathway following the Mersey River. The meeting point is at the Bluff in Devonport. The course has lights along the full course, and it will be twilight when we start (Sunset 5:54, Dusk 6:21). It will be dark at the conclusion of the race. Head torches are not mandatory, though feel free to wear one if you would like. Please make sure you keep left at all times, and respect other users of the path. There can be some dark patches from 1km to 2km, so make sure you’re paying attention to where you are going.

The race will start at the first light pole on the path near the playground at the Bluff. You will then head East out along the foreshore path, keeping left at all times (including at the split in the track approx 500m in). At approx 2km in, there are two pedestrian crossings at the boat ramp. You have right of way with traffic, but be vigilant and stop if necessary. At the fork after the second pedestrian crossing you will veer left and continue following the path along the river. After you go under the elevated walkway, you will continue straight along the river past the Harbourmaster Cafe. Continue to the end of the path where you will turn right across the train line. Immediately go left and continue following the path along Formby Road until you get to another fork at Petbarn. You will veer left, and you will find the turn around point shortly after. Head around the cone, and head back exactly the way you came, ensuring that you keep left to avoid any collisions with other runners.

Presentations will be held shortly after the final runner crosses the line.

Written course description:

The race starts at 9:00 am at the Wild Mersey car park, Shale Rd Latrobe.  There are public toilet facilities at the car park.

The race is an out and back course covering approximately 11.5 km each way. The course covers shared access mountain bike and walking trails, with a short section of quiet road at the start finish.

The race will start on the road section southeast of the carpark, following this for approximately 1 km before crossing the Mersey River over the bridge.  After crossing the bridge, runners turn right onto the Railton Express, looping clockwise under the bridge, before heading southeast along the track.  From this point runners will follow the Railton Express trail markers.  At approximately 4 km into the outward journey, runners will come to Great Bend Road where a race marshal will cross runners (when safe).  The Railton Express continues for another 6km to the crossing point at a gravel road (Pump House Rd); runners cross here.  Please note unlike 2024, the course crosses the road and rejoins the trail; runners do not run up the gravel road. After crossing the gravel road, the track continues for another 1.5 km to the turnaround/transition area. The turnaround/transition area will be next to a small forestry access road off Native Rock Rd, approximately 500m after the junction of Native Rock Rd and Pump House Rd (visible from the track).  This point will be a marshaled drink station where runners can reload their water supplies before the return journey along the same track.  This is also the transition area for runners competing in the team event.

After passing through the turnaround/transition runners will complete the return journey along the same path as the outward journey. The finish line will be the same location as the start chute.

The race has a hard cutoff time of 2 pm.

Runners meet at the Penguin Athletics Track, starting on the grassed parking area above the track. Runners will head West, crossing Sports Complex Avenue adjacent to the Dog Exercise area. Runners turn left on to the mountain bike trails just prior to the intersection with Ironcliffe Rd.

After another short uphill trail, runners will continue onto the upper Mountain Bike Park driveway until the single trail continues to the South. Continue along the mountain Bike tracks following the markings until the first of two wooden off camber platforms. At the end of the first platform runners take a left turn at the tyre stack onto the second off camber platform, runners may choose to run to the left of this platform as it can be slippery especially in the wet. The course is out-and-back in both directions with the run East done first. The course is mostly flat – there is one short hill in the first half at Leith. When starting the second-leg (or just after hallway for individuals) and running West on the Esplanade in Turners Beach you must take the new coastal pathway. When approaching the turn-around sign on Beach Road, Ulverstone, you may run on the sea side of the road, rather than the windy concrete path (take care).
