Race Map: https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/5704391560/

NB: The Tasmanian launch of the Yes campaign for The Voice will be taking place commencing at 6pm at the Devonport Surf Club. This means that parking might be a bit tight.

This is a mass start event. All runners will start at 6pm. Handicaps will be applied post race to determine the winner of the handicap event. The winner and placegetters will be announced on the night, with the full results and handicaps being posted to the website later that night. The nominated time event will be held at 5:30pm.

This is a simple out and back course along the pathway following the Mersey River. The meeting point is at the Bluff in Devonport. The course has lights along the full course, and it will be twilight when we start (Sunset 5:48, Dusk 6:16). It will be dark at the conclusion of the race. Head torches are not mandatory, though feel free to wear one if you would like. Please make sure you keep left at all times, and respect other users of the path. There can be some dark patches from 1km to 2km, so make sure you’re paying attention to where you are going.

The race will start at the first light pole on the path near the playground at the Bluff. You will then head East out along the foreshore path, keeping left at all times (including at the split in the track approx 500m in). At approx 2km in, there is two pedestrian crossings at the boat ramp. There will be a marshal at each, please follow their instructions. At the fork after the second pedestrian crossing you will veer left and continue following the path along the river. After you go under the elevated walkway, you will turn immediately right across the train line, with a sharp left onto the path. We will be cutting across the grass in this section, so follow the cones as placed. The path narrows for 200m, so again, please keep left and watch for other path users. Continue following the path along Formby Road until you get to another fork at Petbarn. You will veer left, and you will find the turn around point shortly after. Head around the cone, and head back exactly the way you came, ensuring that you keep left to avoid any collisions with other runners.

Presentations will be held shortly after the final runner crosses the line.

Race 15 Spreyton, Spreyton Cider Co 5km Handicaps, Race Brief, and Map

The meeting place is at the Spreyton Cider Co on Melrose Road. However, the start will be in the big paddock across Sheffield Road where we have started in recent years. Please be careful crossing Sheffield Road. The course is the same as 2021.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT do your warm-up on Sheffield Road. Use the paddock or the area around the cidery.

Run straight up the paddock to Jowetts Lane and turn left. Follow the road (stay on the left) until a finger directs you left into an orchard where you will run straight ahead.

Follow the fingers and arrows which will take you through the cherry orchard, turn left and head down Pilgrims Road where you will be directed behind the apple shed. Complete the marked loop and rejoin your path out which will take you back to the start/finish.

NOTE: The Marathon will start at 7am and The Teams Marathon will start at 8am Please ensure you are at the start line for your handicapped start line, allowing yourself time to collect bibs.

This week there are two events being conducted concurrently over the same course – the Greg & Dianne Woodhouse Marathon and the Ayers Orchards “Terry Watson Memorial” Marathon Teams’ Race.

It is a two lap out and back course. The races start at the Ulverstone Cricket Club in River Road, West Ulverstone. The course heads east along River Road to the Ulverstone Bridge, under and across the bridge, down past the wharf precinct to Otto’s Grotto and onto Fairway Park walking track to Buttons Creek and along Beach Road to the Ulverstone/Turners Beach coastal pathway . Runners follow the pathway to Turners Beach and then along The Esplanade to the turn which is beside the Forth River where there will be another drink station. Please stay on the sea side of the Esplanade going in both directions. This is where the second and fourth teams’ runners will commence their runs. Runners follow the exact same course back to the Ulverstone Cricket Club. This will be the halfway point for the marathon competitors and where the third leg teams’ runners will commence.

Runners, both individual and teams’ runners, are asked to provide their own drinks in clearly marked containers – either their name or race number. These can be left at the start/finish and will be transported to the drink station.

Runners are also reminded that they should not be paced either by another runner not in the race or someone on a bike or other device. In the event of any pacing the runner or teams risk disqualification.

Post-race presentations will take place in the Ulverstone Cricket Club clubrooms. There will be soup served post-race. There are toilet and shower facilities available.

Race 13 Forth, Troy Atkins Accounting/Wynyard Fitness “Ironman Classic” 25km Handicaps, Race Brief, and Map

The race starts at 9:00am on Forth Road at Forth.

There are changerooms and toilet facilities at the Forth Football Ground (the meeting place) which is a short walking distance away. The race is over 25km and contains two major hilly sections. As the race is on public roads runners are asked to run with caution and obey any directions from race officials. Runners must run on the righthand side of the road facing oncoming traffic.

Shortly after the start runners turn right onto Wilmot Road, they run about 10 kilometres on Wilmot Road, on the western side of the Forth River, until they are crossed over onto Paloona Road on their left. The race proceeds over the bridge and a hilly section on Paloona Road until Melrose. Here runners turn left onto Bellamy Road.

After about three kilometres there are some major hills which take the runners to Forthside. Runners then turn right onto Forthside Road which leads to Forth Road where runners will be crossed over onto the righthand side of the road. Then it is downhill and over the Forth Bridge turning right into the Forth Football Ground for the finish line.

There will be race officials to cross runners at the start of Paloona Road, where Paloona Road meets Bellamy Road, and where Forthside Road meets Forth Road.

There are two drink stations – one on Paloona Road soon after crossing the bridge, and one near Forthside. There will be two tubs at the Forth Football Ground for runners to deposit named drink bottles (either name or race number) and gels etc. Drinks etc. must be in the tubs by 9:30am as they will be transported to the drink stations at this time. It is strongly recommended runners only take drinks from the designated drink stations.

People following the race in cars are reminded to obey all road rules and be conscious of other road users.

CAUTION: The last part of the race down Forth Road is on road which has very little verge. You are responsible for your safety. Stay on the extreme right and be prepared to move completely off the road if necessary.

A soup luncheon will be served after the race.
