Race Map

Written course description:

The main race starts at 9:30 am at 225 Johnsons Road, Yolla. Nominated time race starts at 9am. Kingsley Coffee will be on site to satisfy all you hot drink needs.

The race is a loop course covering approximately 8.5 km in a generally clockwise direction. The course covers a combination of farm road, gravel road, paddock, and mountain bike track.

The start/transition/finish chute starts near the sheds behind the house on the property.  Runners then turn left from the year and then another left onto the 600 out and 600 back section of the course. Follow the course marking down the farm road until eventually it runs up into a paddock. Follow the pink ribbon course marking through a couple of grass paddocks and then around the perimeter of a recently cropped area sticking to the grass around the outside. From there the course runs approximately 400 m up a rough gravel road before re-entering back into farmland. From here it’s a short paddock run before entering the mountain bike track area. Follow the pink ribbon around the mountain bike track. While on the track DO NOT jump over to any other nearby tracks or duck under/over or around the black & yellow barrier tape; there are multiple tracks in this area and deviating from the pink ribbon course will cause runners to go off course very quickly.

After running the mountain bike track loop you’ll emerge back into farmland close to where you entered the bike track. Turning left, follow the pink ribbon, you’ll find a very fast section of the run across and down grass paddocks until entering another farm road. The run continues fast along the farm track until you hit the finishing hill of doom! Then through the stock yards and to the start / finish/ transition!

The whole course is marked with pink ribbon and orange arrows will be placed at key locations to guide runners around.

For those wishing to gpx files of the course route can be downloaded here and preloaded onto your running watch.  To download click the Downward link (highlighted below) and select “Download GPX”.

Pre-Race Safety Briefing:

Runners are responsible for their own safety. Please consider the course and weather conditions and prepare yourself accordingly by wearing appropriate footwear and clothing.

Runners must follow the pink ribbon marked course at all times.  Black and yellow tape designates no go areas.

Portaloo facilities will be provided in the shed area for participants and volunteers.

Runners are reminded that they are running on a private property. Areas outside of the marked course and transition area are out of bounds. The shared route file does not permit runners to access to the course outside of the designated race period without permission from the landowner.

No littering will be permitted; all runners are expected to carry any rubbish with them to the finish area.

Race Map

The course starts at the Romaine Reserve carpark adjacent to the BBQ area. Runners follow the reserves gravel pathway in an anticlockwise direction until they reach the start of the Mount Street link path. Here runners turn right onto the link path and continue for another 400m. The course then turns left onto the fence line track, heading back into the reserve for approx. 700m until the Havenview link path. Here runners will take a right on to the havenview link path and head towards the truck route before taking another right to run adjacent to the truck route for some 500m before taking another right to head back to the fence line and onto the forestry fire track on the opposite side of the fence. The course follows the fire track southwest for approx. 600m, before taking a left towards the truck route. As runners approach the truck route, they will then turn right at the T intersection. Here runners will complete a 300m out and back section around a turn marker, before continuing along the fire track adjacent to the truck route. Approx 1km down the track the course will perform a large “U” between the truck route and the reserve fence line tracks. Runners then continue another 1km along the truck route track, crossing over the Havenview link track, before following the track left towards the reserve. The course then turns left back onto the reserve gravel pathway, before turning right over the footbridge and finishing where the course started.

  • Parking is limited in the Romaine carpark.  Therefore, all competitors that are able, are requested to park in Blackwood Parade or Kingsley Avenue.  This is to ensure access to the park area for other users and club members who are travelling with people who have mobility issues and/or small children.
  • It is recommended that participants wear trail running shoes due to slippery conditions caused by recent rainfall.
  • Runners must keep RIGHT at all times and be mindful of other runners coming towards them.
  • There are sections of exposed roots, rocks, fallen branches, leaves and blackberry vines throughout the course. Runners must run with their eyes as well as their feet.
  • Please note that the course is marked with pink spray-painted arrows.
  • Due to fallen trees blocking a small section of the usual race course, there is a slight deviation from previous years. These changes have been included in the race map and written course description above.
